How to search and find specific words and phrases in a video

Hi, Ivana Taylor here. I'm the publisher of DIY Marketers and today it dawned on me as I was

working on a project that you would really want to know about this. So I'm doing something I've

never done before which is more of a video type of a blog, blog post, but I really wanted to share

this with you because it was an opportunity for you to learn something as I've been learning it

So I'm working on a series of videos and I want to show you what they look like

And then I'm going to show you how I'm putting this together. Now, I do have a team helping me, but I'm a DIY marketer, right

So I've got to figure, I really want to figure out how to do it myself

Now, one of the things that you can see is I'm doing these mashups of stories

of these interviews that I've done with folks. Okay so each month has a theme And you get a short interview and you got all these different people Look at all these people that I interviewed and I put them together as a story

So you'll definitely want to check those out. But I've been pushing myself to tighten up the stories and make them a lot more interesting

and make them more like a story than just a series of interviews of people, you know, talking

So to that end, again, I have a whole library of interviews and I'm going to show you the

back end here in my YouTube channel. I do all of my interviews on Google Hangouts

Okay, Google Hangouts. It looks like this. And the reason I do Google Hangouts on air is because all of those interviews are then

put into your YouTube channel. Okay. And I've done all these privately, so you're not going to see a bunch of views here

These are all mostly me checking into these. But look at all these interviews I've done. And now I'm going to tell you something super sneaky that a lot of people don't know

One of the things that YouTube will do is they will actually transcribe your video

Now it not perfect I know but it really very very good for the purposes that I going to show you here today Now one thing you got to keep in mind is you got to keep your hangout interview shorter than an hour So actually there are two things you have to

keep in mind. One, it has to be shorter than an hour. And second, if you're interviewing someone

without a traditional American accent, you're going, you know, you may not, or if the

quality of your video recording is not very good, you're not going to get a good transcript

Now understand, this is not a perfect transcript, but what it does is it does have these wonderful

timestamps, okay? So in this month's video, I want to do a series because I remember that a lot

of people asked or said in the interviews about the no like and trust factor. But look, I have all

these videos to search. How am I going to find that one place? Or even if they did say it, I mean

it's been a while. So watch this. So you've got this little transcript here, see? And what I'm

going to do is I'm going to just press, I do, I'm on a Mac, so I press Command F for find. You might

Press control F for find. And then I search for the word trust, right

Because that the word that isn going to come up as often And I don want to do the whole phrase right But look at this Here it is People buy from people they know like and trust

There it is. So now I know that when I download that video, which I've actually

I don't even know if you can see it, but I've actually downloaded it. Now I know exactly where

to go when I'm creating my little movie and I can pull just that clip of where that person says

no like and trust so um now I'm sure that there may be um software out there that does that

but google hangouts free google transcription free just to let you know I mean uh typical

transcription can run, you know, $10 an hour. So if you have an hour long interview, you're looking

at a 20, you know, two hour transcription. So now you're at already 20 some dollars. This is free

free transcription. Search for the words you're looking for, download it, edit it in whatever

video editing software that you're using and go from there. So that is my how-to

sneaky tip for all you DIY marketers today
